11-21-11 I know that there are so many things to about which to worry & complain; HOWEVER, this year we can at least hope and pray that things will get better. Don't let the jerks alienate you and hang-in there. With that we wish you a joyous and caring THANKSGIVING. And if you have a little extra, please share.
11-20-11 Frustration: After 35 years of contacts with opal miners at the mine, we find that little new opal is to be found. Two-thirds of miners in Lightning Ridge (LR) are gone. Where you say? Good question; but we are betting that they are working in the coal, iron, moly, gold, sapphire mines. MOST of them are in iron ore mining making at least $1500 to $2000 per week and a free flight home once per month. I have been told directly that they cannot compete with wages so high.
